Just found out a huge number of people skip book club picks they think they won't like
I was reading an article from a big book site last week, and it said a survey found 40% of club members admit to not reading the chosen book if the summary doesn't grab them. I always thought everyone at least tried it! It made me wonder if our own group's low turnout last month was because of the pick. Has your club ever talked about this kind of rule or just let it slide?

Our group just picks books everyone already read.

Ask your group if they're open to a re-read discussion, @veraramirez. Some of my best talks came from revisiting a book after a few years. Picking something everyone already knows means you skip the "what even happened" confusion and get straight to the deeper stuff, like why a certain character annoyed you more this time. Just set a rule that nobody rereads it in the week before the meeting so it stays fresh.
