I finally finished that awful book 'The Goldfinch' after 3 months

Wasted $18 on the hardcover and it took me from June to September to drag myself through it. Last 200 pages were okay but not worth the slog. Did anyone else hate this book or am I just not getting it?

man honestly you should've just skimmed it after the first 100 pages and saved yourself the pain

Nah @perez.cole I gotta push back on that "skimmed it after the first 100 pages" thing. Some books need that slow burn to hit you right. The payoff comes from sitting in the discomfort and letting the story breathe. If you skip ahead you miss all the small details that make the ending land hard. I get wanting to save time but with this one the journey matters just as much as the destination.
