I finally compared reading a novel on my Kindle versus the paperback and the winner was clear.

After 3 months of switching back and forth, I found the Kindle kept me reading 40 percent longer each night because I wasn't fighting to hold the book open - anyone else notice the same thing?

Kindle wins for me too. The weight difference is huge when you're trying to get comfortable in bed. My wrists don't get tired holding it, and I can flip pages with one thumb without shifting my whole arm. No fighting with a thick book spine that wants to snap shut.

I read somewhere that paperback weight can actually strain your wrists over time, like repetitive stress kind of thing. I didn't believe it until I tried reading a 700 page hardcover in bed (bad idea). Even those "lightweight" paperbacks feel heavy after twenty minutes when you're trying to prop them up. My Kindle Paperwhite weighs less than my phone (weird but true) so I can literally hold it with one finger and not feel it. The spine snapping thing is real too, I've broken a few book spines trying to get them to lay flat on my stomach.
