Hit 50 books read this year and it caught me off guard
I set a goal of 24 books back in January thinking that was ambitious but here we are in November and I just cracked 50. My book club did a poll back in March about whether people could finish a book every two weeks and most said no. It's weird because I remember struggling to get through one novel a month in college. Has anyone else surprised themselves with how much they've read in a year?

Wait, does quantity really matter if you're just skimming through easier reads than in college?

I get where you're coming from, but I gotta push back on the "skimming through easier reads" thing. Quantity matters a lot even if you're reading lighter stuff. The more you read, the more you get used to picking up patterns in writing, spotting bad arguments, and just building up your reading stamina. If you're only reading a few books a year, you're not really giving your brain enough practice to get good at any of that. It's like going to the gym with tiny weights - you're not gonna see much change. Even with easy books, the reps add up.
