Dropped $60 on a laser level for our book club meeting room setup

I got tired of hanging posters and whiteboards crooked for our monthly debates, so I bought a basic self-leveling laser from Home Depot. It lined everything up perfect for two meetings, but then the pendulum lock broke and now it just blinks at me. Has anyone else found a way to keep cheap tools alive longer?

Wow, I've had the same trouble with a cheap stud finder that just started beeping at random.

That $15 one from the hardware store I bought started doing that too. @thomas_johnson35 did yours ever actually find a stud before it went haywire, or was it always a mess? I noticed mine would beep like crazy near light switches and outlets, but then go silent right over a solid spot in the wall. Real frustrating when you're trying to hang a shelf and end up with extra holes to patch.
