Can we talk about the 3 hour book club meeting in Savannah that turned into a fight over the ending?
I went to a book club meetup in Savannah last Thursday at a little cafe on Broughton Street and we spent almost the entire time arguing about the last 20 pages of the pick. Out of 9 people there, 5 thought the ending was lazy and 4 said it was the whole point. One woman actually brought her copy with sticky notes on every page from chapter 12 onward to prove her take. I felt like I was back in a college seminar and honestly I kind of loved it. Now I'm wondering if our group should start doing a quick vote before we get into it so we don't burn the whole night on one chapter. Does your club have a system for keeping things moving when one part of the book sparks a big disagreement?
