Can we talk about someone in my book club who insisted on debating a character's haircut for 20 minutes

Last week at our monthly meetup, one lady kept arguing that the main character's buzz cut in chapter 3 was a symbol of toxic masculinity, but the book never even described her hair at all. Has anyone else had a member latch onto some random detail and refuse to let it go?

Honestly, is it really that deep? The lady latched onto a haircut that never even happened in the book. Like maybe she was just having a rough week or wanted something to talk about. People get weird when they think they've uncovered some hidden meaning in a random detail. Sometimes a buzz cut is just a buzz cut, not a whole political statement. I'd let her have her moment and move on.

Five bucks says that lady gets a buzz cut next week just to keep the conspiracy going. @the_leo you're probably right though, some people just need a hobby and a haircut drama is as good as any.
