Watched a neighbor repaint her front door from navy blue to safety orange in one weekend

She said everyone on the block thought she was crazy until the sun hit it just right and the whole house popped. The orange made the navy trim and white siding look intentional instead of boring. Has anyone else tried a door color that completely changed how their house reads from the street?

We painted our front door a bright lime green last spring and my husband thought I lost my mind. Our house is a pale gray with white trim and it used to just blend in with every other house on the street. Now people actually slow down when they walk their dogs to look at it because the green is so unexpected but somehow works with the gray. It made me realize boring houses are just houses that need a color that actually talks back to the rest of the paint scheme. Did you go with a glossy finish or something more flat for that safety orange?

Oh wait, did you mean that was a reply to someone else talking about safety orange? I don't see that in your post, maybe I'm missing something.
