Unpopular opinion: I once put neon green on top of muddy purple for a band flyer in Phoenix and it looked like a bruised avocado
The singer hated it so I flipped the purple to the background and the green into a thin outline, and suddenly it read clean from across the room. Has anyone else had a combo that only works once you switch which color is doing the heavy lifting?

Wait, is a bruised avocado really the problem here? A band flyer just needs to grab people from across the room so they show up to the show, it doesn't have to be some perfect color theory project. I've seen tons of flyers with gross color combos that still worked because the show was good and the name was readable. The green outline thing makes sense, sure, but flipping the colors didn't fix the design, it just made it easier to see the words. Maybe the real issue was that muddy purple was just a bad pick to begin with and the green was carrying the whole thing. Not everything needs a deep lesson about which color does the heavy lifting.
