Talked to a textile designer and now I doubt every purple I use
Was at a studio in Portland last Thursday, chatting with this woman who does upholstery for hotels. She said pairing purple with yellow is a disaster unless you mute one to like 20% saturation, because the eye physically can't settle on both at full blast. I always thought clashing meant go louder, but she showed me two swatches side by side and my own vision felt shaky after 5 seconds. Makes me wonder, do you guys lean into the chaos or do you secretly calculate the ratio like she does? Has anyone else had a pro drop a rule that wrecked their whole gut approach?
