My purple and yellow living room experiment cost me $240

I spent about $240 on paint and supplies to do an accent wall in a bright purple and the opposite wall in a bold yellow. It was supposed to be this artsy clash that looked cool like some of the posts I've seen here. But man, it just looks like a kid's playroom now and my wife gives me a side eye every time she walks through. The purple is too dark and the yellow is too neon, they just fight each other instead of vibing. Has anyone else tried a two-wall color clash and ended up regretting the combo?

Tell your wife you were going for a "Wimbledon after a Skittles explosion" vibe. Your living room sounds like a clown car threw up in a fun house. Save yourself, repaint one wall white before she makes you sleep on the couch.

Been there, man. My wife picked out this crazy lime green for our den and it looked like a highlighters convention in there. What saved me was grabbing a big can of warm white and doing just the one wall behind the TV. It gives the eye somewhere to rest and makes the other colors look intentional, like you planned it. @joseph_west59 is right about the couch threat, that's real. If she pushes back, tell her you're just matching the trim and it ties the room together. Worked for me, and it beats living with a permanent Skittles headache.
