My friend swore hot pink and lime green in a living room would look amazing, I told her she was nuts
She painted one accent wall hot pink and got a lime green sofa last spring. I literally said 'that's going to look like a 90s fast food restaurant.' But when she had me over to see it, the whole room had this fun energy that really worked with her white trim and plants. The combo actually made the space feel bigger and happy. Has anyone else had a friend prove you dead wrong about a color clash?

Technically speaking, your friend accidentally discovered that hot pink and lime green sit opposite each other on the color wheel as analogous neighbors to a split complementary. That combo basically tricks your eye into thinking there's more visual depth, which is why her living room felt bigger. Plus the white trim acted like a neutral shock absorber, keeping it from looking like a toddler's play area. I've seen this work before with a coral and mint green kitchen, same principle but feels totally different.
