Mid-century orange and pink signs from my hometown are starting to look calm to me, is that bad?

I was driving through the old strip mall area in Tucson last week and saw a 1960s pharmacy sign with burnt orange, hot pink, and lime green all next to each other, and instead of wincing I just thought that looked like a warm welcome, which made me wonder if growing up around these clashes has permanently rewired what I consider bold, has anyone else hit that point where the wild combos you used to hate now just feel like home?

That feeling of "this is home" is exactly how I knew I'd been in the Southwest too long, same thing happened to me with the turquoise and coral motel signs out here in New Mexico. The trick is to just accept that your eye has been trained by decades of sun and stucco, and that's not a bad thing, it just means your sense of what's loud has shifted. If it bothers you, go look at a muted gray website for ten minutes, but honestly, you'll be back to craving that orange before the week is out.
