I finally learned my lesson about purple and orange trim

Last spring I redid my front porch and went with a bright purple door plus orange trim around the windows. Paid $340 for the paint and spent a whole weekend on it. Every single neighbor who walked by either laughed or asked if I was serious. I had to repaint everything two months later in a dark teal, and now I tell anyone picking bold colors to test them on a big piece of cardboard first. Has anyone else dropped serious cash on a clash that looked great in the store but awful in real light?
