Walked through an old refinery last week and saw hand-riveted drums still in service
I was up in Chester, PA visiting a client's site and they had these old drum headers that were hand-riveted, not welded. Must have been from the 1930s or 40s. Still holding pressure and everything. My foreman said his granddad worked on that same unit back in the day. It got me thinking about how much the trade has shifted from riveting to welding and now to automation. Anyone else run into old school work that's still ticking along?
