Pipe tack trick I picked up in Baton Rouge last month
Had a flange keep pulling out of alignment during a big weld out, tried magnets and clamps and still fought it. A guy from the local hall showed me to tack a small angle iron across the backside as a brace, took me 10 minutes and it held perfect. Anyone else use temporary braces like that instead of babysitting the fit-up?

Read a tip on a welding forum a while back about using a small piece of flat bar as a dog leg to pull a gap closed, kinda the same idea as your angle iron deal. Tbh I was skeptical at first but tried it on a spool piece last week and it worked way better than cranking on a come-along. The key I found is keeping your tacks small so you can knock the brace off clean after. Ngl that Baton Rouge trick sounds solid though, gonna have to try the angle iron next time a flange starts walking on me.
