Our shop switched from manual to plasma cutting on 1-inch plate six months ago.
We used to burn through three cutting tips a week, but now we're down to maybe one a month. The cut quality is way cleaner and our fit-up time dropped by almost half. Has anyone else seen a jump in productivity this big after changing a core process?

Hell yeah, we swapped to a better welding wire last year. Same deal, less waste and way faster on the line.

Honestly I was sure plasma was just a fad for thinner stuff... but seeing numbers like yours is hard to argue with. That kind of time saved on fit-up proves the cut quality is real.

Read a white paper from one of the big welding suppliers that said plasma is actually MORE consistent on thick plate because it doesn't drift like an arc does. Sounds like your experience backs that up.
