Had to pick between a fire blanket or a new extinguisher for our shop in Detroit

Last month I was swapping out old safety gear and realized our budget only covered one. I went with the extinguisher because we already had a blanket that was still in good shape. Turns out the blanket was rated for grease fires but not for metal shop stuff we do. Now I'm wondering if I should have just replaced both even if it meant covering the difference myself. Has anyone else had to make this call and regret it later?

That whole situation reminds me of how people often try to patch one thing and forget the bigger picture until it bites them. Its like when you fix a leaky pipe but ignore the rusted valve right next to it because you only have time for one repair. Sometimes the cheaper choice just kicks the can down the road and makes you pay for it later.

Oh man, so true - I once saved fifty bucks on brakes and ended up paying triple for new rotors three months later.
