Had to choose between a Smith torch and a Victor on a tight budget last month
I was setting up a new portable rig for some boiler work in Odessa, Texas and could only afford one brand. Picked the Victor because a guy I trust said parts are easier to find out there. Three weeks in, the regulator started acting up on a Monday repair job and I really wished I'd gone with the Smith. Has anyone else run into trouble with Victor's newer stuff?

Wait, you picked Victor because you heard parts are easier to find, but the regulator gave out after just three weeks? That's wild, man. I've been using Smith torches for years and never had a regulator fail that fast, even on the cheap ones. Victor used to be the gold standard but lately I hear their quality control is slipping hard. Maybe it's just bad luck, but three weeks is way too short for that kind of breakdown. Sounds like you got a lemon from a bad batch.

Honestly that kinda changes my mind about Victor quality lately.
