Found a trick for marking out tube sheets using an old tape measure and a sharpie
Last week on a job in Toledo, I marked 48 holes in half the time by taping a washer to the end of my tape for a consistent scribe, so has anyone else got a cheap method like that for laying out flanges?

Honestly, the washer trick works alright for a quick scribe, but I gotta point out that it won't stay perfectly level if the tube sheet surface isn't dead flat. You're basically relying on the tape's hook being square, and on thicker flanges that can give you a wobble. Instead of a washer, try a worn-out center punch with a magnet glued to it, it bites the edge better and keeps a straight line even on rough castings. For laying out flanges specifically, a cheap digital caliper with the jaws reversed will mark bolt circles way faster than messing with tape math.
