Dropped a wrench into a mud pit on a power plant job in Indiana
I was working on a boiler feed pump at the Merom station and my 1-1/8 inch wrench slipped right into a foot of black muck. Had to fish it out with a magnet on a stick while the foreman watched and said nothing.

Gotta disagree with you there. Fishing it out with a magnet on a stick sounds like you got off easy. A foreman who just watches and says nothing? That's a gift. Most guys would have had to hear about it for the rest of the shift, plus get written up for losing a tool. Mud pits suck, sure, but a magnet on a stick is a solid fix. Could have been a lot worse if that wrench wedged itself into some tight spot behind a pipe. Be thankful your foreman stayed quiet.

Five bucks says the foreman was just happy the wrench was magnetic in the first place. Betty, you've seen those non-magnetic stainless steel tools some guys bring on site, right? Good luck fishing that out with anything but a prayer and a long arm.
