That $40 forge burner from Amazon nearly cost me my shop

I bought a cheap forge burner off Amazon for about $40 thinking it was a steal. On the third use, the nozzle cracked during a heat cycle and shot a stream of propane right at my workbench. If I hadn't been standing there to shut the tank off, I could have lost the whole shed. My buddy at the local blacksmith guild said he's seen three of those burners fail the same way. I ended up spending $120 on a proper burner from a known supplier, and it's been solid for six months now. Has anyone else had bad luck with those cheap Amazon burners?

Learned that lesson myself when my wallet caught fire.

Oh man, that's rough. I've been there too. What finally worked for me was switching to a prepaid card for everyday spending. I set a weekly limit and top it up from my main account. It's annoying but it stops me from overspending. I noticed @the_lee mentioned their wallet catching fire, so I get the pain. Honestly, having a separate account for bills and another for fun money helped me get control back. Took a while to get used to checking the balance before buying anything, but it's been worth it.
