I just hit 1000 hours on my old anvil
It's the one I got from my granddad's barn, and the horn is worn smooth in a specific spot. Makes me wonder how many other folks have a piece of gear that's logged that kind of time.

Remember my dad's old framing hammer. The handle had a permanent curve from his grip, and the claw was worn thin. That kind of wear tells a story no new tool ever could.

Oh man, I gotta disagree there. A worn out tool tells you exactly how good it was built in the first place, and your dad's hammer earned that curve through real work, not just sitting on a shelf. A fresh hammer works fine, but it hasn't PROVEN itself the way that old one has.

But what if that story is just about a tool being used up? A worn out claw can't pull nails right, and a bent handle throws off your swing. Isn't a fresh, reliable tool that does its job perfectly better than a broken down one with a past?
