Stranded at the airport with nothing but a slow-paced period drama to watch.
I couldn't get past the first episode because the pacing was so tedious.

Read a film critic's blog once that said some period dramas use a editing trick called a "digital intermediate" to drain color and slow motion slightly, which can make everything feel heavy. Might explain why some shows feel like walking through mud even when the plot should be moving. They do it for a "historical" look but it just kills momentum sometimes.

Have you seen how some phone updates add flashy effects that actually make simple tasks slower? It's the same obsession with style over speed (you know, like trying to make everything look "important" but just dragging it out) that ruins those period dramas for me.

Is that digital intermediate thing why so many of these shows look the same now, like they all have this grayish brown filter slapped on? I tried watching one recently where every scene felt like it was moving through syrup, and it wasn't even the story, it was just how it was made. Do you think producers use this trick to make a show feel more "important" or "serious" even when it just makes it a slog to get through? It totally backfires if you ask me, because you stop caring about the characters when everything feels so heavy and slow. Makes me miss when shows just let the story and acting do the work instead of relying on a dreary look.
