Skip the pilot episode, watch the season finale first

I used to force myself through every episode in order, even when a show dragged. Then last month I tried watching the finale of a series I was stuck on, just to see if it got better. It completely spoiled the plot, but knowing where things end made me catch all the setup and foreshadowing on the rewatch. Now I do this for every show and actually finish way more stuff. Has anyone else tried this backwards approach, or am I just weird?

Think about how we all do this with stuff like recipes or ikea furniture. Nobody reads the manual cover to cover first, you skip to the last step to see what the finished thing looks like, then go back and figure out how to get there. Same with map apps, I always peek at the final destination before starting the drive, just to know which exit matters. So honestly its not weird at all, its just efficient. The spoiler thing is a tradeoff but if you actually rewatch stuff, it turns into a whole different experience. Forcing yourself through 12 boring episodes just to get to the good part is the real waste of time.
