Question about how people judge a show's rewatch value

I keep seeing folks say a show is 'binge worthy' if it has a huge twist ending, like 'The Good Place' or 'Dark'. But for me, a truly great binge show is one you can watch again and again, not just once for the shock. A show like 'Parks and Rec' or 'The Office' has way more rewatch value because you catch new jokes each time. I binged 'Severance' in two days, loved it, but I haven't gone back because the mystery is solved. Does a show need a big twist to be a top tier binge, or is comfort and rewatchability more important?

Totally agree, the twist shows are a one-time ride. You watch 'Dark' for the puzzle, but once you see the map, the trip is over. A show like 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' or 'New Girl' is built for repeats because the fun is in the characters, not the plot. Those shows are like hanging out with friends, you don't need a new surprise every time. The real binge champs are the ones you leave on in the background while you cook.

Yeah, you nailed it. I burned through "Dark" too, and it was an amazing ride, but I've never felt the pull to go back. The fun was in figuring it out. Meanwhile, I've seen every season of "Parks and Rec" maybe five times, and I still find little background gags I missed. That's the stuff that lives on my hard drive forever.
