My buddy who edits video for a living said I was watching shows wrong and it actually made sense
He told me to skip the first two episodes of every new series I start because most pilots are just the writers figuring out the characters, and after trying it on 5 shows last month I realized I saved about 8 hours of boring setup.

Huh, I dunno about skipping entire episodes. Seems like a lot of people enjoy the first two just fine. I barely notice the setup stuff anyway.

I actually tried skipping them my first watch and ended up going back, the setup stuff pays off more than you'd think (especially with certain character introductions). If you're on a rewatch though, that's a different story - I've definitely skipped a few slow parts myself.
