My buddy made me rethink watching true crime shows

My friend Jake said he stopped watching true crime because it just makes him paranoid about stuff that's super rare. He asked why I waste hours on stories about killers when I could watch something that doesn't make me jump at every noise. Has anyone else had a friend call them out like that?

Wait wait wait wait. Your buddy said TRUE CRIME makes him paranoid? Thats insane to me. I get being creeped out late at night but calling you out for watching it like its some weird hobby? Thats wild. Dude probably watches those fake reality shows about house flipping or something boring like that. Let him stay in his bubble while we learn how to spot a real psychopath lol.

@kevin_murray88 hit the nail on the head there. My buddy Jake is exactly the type who watches house flipping shows and then lectures me about my "paranoid hobby." I told him, "Hey, at least I'm learning how to spot a real creep, not just how to pick out backsplash tile." Honestly, I get why some people get jumpy. I once had to pull over at a rest stop at 3am after watching one too many episodes about truck stop killers, and I spent ten minutes checking my mirrors every two seconds like an absolute goofball. But that's on me for watching it at midnight, not on the show. So yeah, tell your buddy to stick to his HGTV while we keep our eyes peeled for red flags.
