Finally finished The Leftovers after 3 false starts over 2 years

I kept trying to get into The Leftovers but would quit around episode 3 every time. Something just clicked on my fourth try last week and I binged all 3 seasons in 9 days. Turns out I needed to watch it at night with no distractions instead of on my lunch break. Has anyone else had a show they had to try multiple times before it finally worked?

Honestly, when you said "quit around episode 3 every time" I felt that in my soul. That was exactly me for almost a year until I finally pushed through. Tbh I used to think people were overhyping it, like "this slow, weird show about sad people? No thanks." But once I got to episode 6 or 7 of season 1 something just clicked and I realized I was wrong the whole time. Now I tell everyone the same thing you said, you gotta watch it at night with zero distractions let it sink in slow. It's wild how your mood and setting can totally change a show.

Yeah man, did it really take you that long too? I was the exact same way. I tried to start it like three different times across two years and always dropped it around episode 3 or 4 because nothing was happening and everyone looked miserable. Then one night I was sick and just let it play through while I laid in bed, and by episode 8 I was all in. It's like the show doesn't even try to grab you, it just waits for you to be ready for it. Now I've seen the whole thing twice and I get why people act like it's this big deal.
