Wheel truing stand taught me more than the last 3 shop classes

I spent Saturday afternoon with a $60 truing stand instead of using the old zip-tie-on-the-fork trick, and the wheel came out dead straight on the first try. The dial indicator showed a 2mm hop I'd been ignoring for months because the zip tie flexed too much to read it. Anyone else find that proper tools just expose how sloppy your eyeballing actually was?
