Unpopular opinion: I dropped $300 on a digital torque wrench and it's the best money I ever wasted
I bought it last month after a carbon seatpost clamp cracked on a customer's bike. I thought it was overkill, but I was tired of guessing. Now I use it on every stem, crank, and brake mount. It's slow and feels fussy, but I haven't had a single comeback for a creak or a crack since. Anyone else think these things are annoying but totally worth it?

My buddy built a whole engine by hand and skipped the torque specs. The thing sounded like a coffee can full of bolts at idle. He had to take it all apart again, and that digital wrench was the first thing he bought for the second try.

Man, I used to think those were just for show. Then I snapped a bolt on my own derailleur hanger because I was just going by feel. That little click and the number on the screen forces you to slow down and do it right. It's a pain, but so is fixing your own mistakes.

Wait, he built a WHOLE engine and just skipped the torque specs? That is a whole new level of brave, or maybe crazy. I can't even imagine putting together all those tiny, important parts and just hoping it feels right. No wonder it sounded like a bag of rocks. That story alone would make me buy the digital wrench too.
