The old Park Tool chain checker vs the new digital one - night and day difference

I spent 20 years using the old metal CC-2 chain checker and always figured it was fine, but then a customer brought in a brand new Ultegra group that skipped under load and sure enough his chain was stretched way past what my old tool showed. Switched to the digital caliper method three months ago and now I catch worn chains before they trash the cassette every time. Has anyone else found the old tools aren't accurate enough on modern chains?

Old school CC2 is straight up lying on modern chains. Digital caliper or bust now.

Ngl, my buddy tried that old school CC2 on his modern chain and ended up tensioning it way too loose, almost threw the chain off on a climb. He swapped to a digital caliper the next week and never looked back.
