Learned the hard way why you don't skip chain lube before a group ride

Went on a 40 mile ride last Saturday with a dry chain and by mile 10 it sounded like a coffee grinder. Has anyone else had a good chain seize up mid-ride from neglect?

Oh man, that's brutal. I did the exact same thing last summer, thought I could get away with one more ride. Chain started squeaking around mile 15, by mile 20 it was skipping and I had to limp home. Completely seized up on the last hill too. Had to call my wife to come pick me up in the truck. Now I lube after every wash no exceptions.

@rowanp15 you probably wore the chain faster by waiting.

Wait til your chain snaps mid-ride, @rowanp15, now that's a walk of shame you won't forget. Sounds like you learned the hard way, but at least you didn't get stranded in the rain.
