How my new chain whip broke after 4 uses on a Campy cassette

I got a budget chain whip from Amazon like 2 months ago, figured it would hold up for home use. Last Saturday I was swapping a cassette on my old Campagnolo wheelset and the pin just sheared off halfway through the second lockring turn. The metal felt really soft when I looked at it after, like it was pot metal or something. Has anyone else had luck with those cheaper whip tools or should I just spend the 30 bucks on a Park Tool one?

I saw a mechanic on YouTube say those cheap Amazon chain whips are cast, not forged, and the pins snap because the metal is porous. Park Tool's pin is machined from solid steel, which is why it costs more. For Campy lockrings that are always tight, you need the harder steel or you'll be buying a new tool every season.
