Guy at the Riverdale bike swap told me to stop chasing perfect wheel dish, and he was dead right
I spent almost 2 hours last Saturday trying to get a rear wheel dish down to under half a millimeter on my old truing stand, and my hands were cramping up bad. A retired wheel builder named Manny who runs a table at the Riverdale bike swap every spring watched me for a bit and said the dish just needs to be close enough that the tire tracks straight, the spokes stay even, and it does not rub. I finally backed off and rode that wheel 400 miles since then with zero issues, which honestly bugged me because I wanted him to be wrong. So how tight do you all actually get your dish, or am I the only one who was overthinking it this whole time?
