Finally got a broken spoke on a park tool truing stand...
I snapped a spoke on my old touring bike yesterday during a ride in Phoenix. Took it to my bench and used a Park Tool SW-7 spoke wrench to replace it, but the new one kept pulling too tight and I had to re-lace it twice. Felt good to get the wheel spinning true after an hour of fiddling with tension... Has anyone else had trouble getting replacement spokes to match the original gauge?

Tru? What gauge was the original, 14 or 15?

Wait, are you serious? 14 or 15 gauge? That's crazy to me, I always heard the old ones were 16 gauge or sometimes even 18. I remember helping a buddy rewire a house from the 50s, those wires were so thin they looked like they'd snap if you looked at them wrong.
