That $9 meat injector I laughed at actually saved my brisket

Got a cheap injector from a hardware store near Waco last summer just to prove a point. Figured the rub and smoke time did all the work. Used it once with some beef broth and butter mix on a tough flat that usually comes out dry. Night and day difference, even my buddy who swears by his $200 setup asked what I did. Now I wonder how many other gimmick tools are worth trying. Anyone else get humbled by a bargain bin find?

That $12 marinade injector from Academy changed how I do pork shoulders too. I was skeptical like you, figured the smoke ring did everything, but that thing gets liquid deep into the meat where it actually matters. The trick is warm the broth up first so it flows easy and don't overdo it in one spot, otherwise you get a grease pocket. I've also started using it for turkey before frying and it cuts the cook time by a solid twenty minutes. The cheap ones with the metal needle are honestly just as good as the fancy stainless ones, the plastic plunger is the only part that wears out. Once you find one tool that works, it makes you question everything else you skipped over.
