Swapped from Kingsford to lump charcoal about 6 months ago

Used to think briquettes were fine until I did a side-by-side on a 12-hour brisket in my OK Joe. The lump burned way hotter and left almost no ash to deal with at the end. Anyone else notice that much of a difference?

Dude same here. Made the switch about a year ago and never looked back. The heat consistency and less ash is such a game changer for long cooks.

Charcoal is just too messy for me now. The cleanup alone is worth the switch. My brisket game got WAY better after I stopped fighting with temperature spikes.

@sarah_johnson46 thats exactly my story too. Got tired of fighting with temps on overnight smokes and the switch fixed everything. Cleanup is so much faster now too, just dump the foil and wipe it down.
