Hit my 50th whole hog cook last weekend and it felt different
I've been doing pulled pork and brisket for years like everyone else, but I got into whole hog cooking about 18 months ago. Last Saturday in Greenville I finished my 50th hog and it surprised me how much that number meant. It wasn't the biggest cook I've done but it showed me how far I've come with heat control and breakdown timing. Anyone else track specific numbers like that or just me?

Well, that's a nice milestone. It's funny how tracking something like that puts a spotlight on how consistent effort really adds up over time.

Depends on what you're tracking though. A lot of people get real wrapped up in numbers that don't actually mean anything in the long run. I've seen folks track their steps or reading minutes like it's some big deal, then get all down on themselves if they miss a day. That kind of pressure can make you quit faster than just going with the flow. Maybe the spotlight is more annoying than helpful for some people.
