A judge at the Lockhart cookoff told me my ribs were 'too clean,' still trying to figure out what that means
I wiped the bones instead of letting them sit in their own juice like he does, and he docked me points for it even though they tasted fine to me. Anyone else ever get feedback from a judge that felt more like a personal grudge than an actual critique?
Got told mine were too uniform one time which is basically the same thing, judge said they looked store bought because they all had the same bite mark or something. Funny thing is I spent hours trimming them up nice and even so they'd cook the same, and this guy acts like that's a crime against bbq. Honestly some of these judges just want you to cook a specific way and if you don't match their style you're done no matter how good the food is. Tbh it feels like half of them already know who they're gonna give the ribbon to before they even taste your box.
