Wasted $80 on a cheap clipper blade sharpener from Amazon

Found out the hard way after 3 uses the thing just ground down my blades unevenly and now I gotta replace 2 sets of Fades, anyone got a reliable sharpener they actually trust?

...and that's pretty much how it goes with half the stuff on Amazon these days. It's not just clipper sharpeners, it's everything. You pay for a cheap version of a tool, and it breaks or messes up your stuff, so now you're out the cost of the tool plus whatever you ruined. I've been using the same basic hand file and a steady hand for years, never had this problem. People think they need a gadget for everything, but sometimes the old way just works.

I get where you're coming from with the hand file thing, but honestly some of those little gadgets can save a ton of time if you get a decent one. I've had good luck with the Wahl brand sharpener, it's like $30 and hasn't messed up any of my blades yet.

Read a review from a barber who said those cheap sharpeners actually wore down his blades unevenly after a few months. Good hardware can make a difference but it's the consistency of the grind that matters, not the price tag. Wahl is a known brand though so you probably got a decent one.
