Warning: I stopped pushing the fade up with clippers and my blends got cleaner
For a couple years I was a die hard clipper over comb guy and honestly I thought anyone using a straight razor for fades was cutting corners. A guy named Marcus who rents the chair next to mine kept telling me to try flicking the blend out with a razor instead of chasing it with the clippers, and I brushed him off. Then I got a walk in with a real round dome and a cowlick on the left side, and no matter what guard I used I kept leaving a line at the parietal ridge. I grabbed a fresh blade, took the hair down wet, and used light pulls going against the grain right at the transition, maybe 20 short strokes total. It came out so smooth I had to hold a mirror at three angles just to believe it. Now I still knock down the bulk with clippers first, but the razor does the last half inch and saves me a good 5 minutes per head. Curious if anyone else here finishes blends with a razor or if I'm the odd one out in this room.
