Unpopular opinion: That "free razor promotion" from the distributor is actually costing you money

I heard a guy at the barber supply shop bragging about how he got a whole case of free straight razors with his order last week. He was treating it like a win, but I did the math on my own order from 2 months ago. They tacked on a $35 handling fee plus bumped the shipping from $12 to $28 for the "promotional" weight. Meanwhile, I buy the same razors in bulk from a medical supply place for $0.18 each with no tricks. Has anyone else looked at their invoices line by line after these deals?

Fair point, but take it from a guy who runs his own business - sometimes the convenience of one-stop shopping and building that relationship with a local supplier is worth a few extra bucks compared to price-matching online deals.
