Unpopular opinion: Giving up hand-stropping changed my shop's vibe.

Disposable blades are efficient, but I miss the ritual of sharpening.

No more stropping, no more soul.

You feel that too? My shop got so quiet after we switched, just the hum of machines now. The old rhythm of stopping to strop was its own kind of break, you know? It had a smell, a sound, a whole feel. That focus you get doing it by hand is gone, and yeah, it changed everything.

Customers probably notice the shift more than we realize. That old routine created a natural pause where they could ask questions or just chat. Now the flow is all efficiency, and it makes the whole place feel less like a community space.
