Switched from thinning shears to a 42 tooth texturizer and never looked back

For like 3 years I used thinning shears on every blend, thinking that was the only way to get rid of weight. Then I talked to this old timer at the barber expo in Dallas last fall who told me to try a 42 tooth texturizer instead. The difference is night and day, way less choppy ends and the blend looks natural even under harsh light. Has anyone else ditched thinning shears for a texturizer or am I late to the party?

42 tooth texturizer works better on cowlicks than thinning shears ever did for me.

I saw a barber on YouTube breaking down the difference and he said thinning shears just cut random hairs while texturizers actually remove weight in a specific pattern. Makes total sense now because my blends used to have those blunt spots that would show up when the client turned their head. Switched about 6 months back and it cleans up the neckline way better too without leaving those weird gaps.
