Switched from clippers to shears for my necklines and it's night and day
Been using clippers to clean up necklines for 3 years but last week I grabbed my shears on a whim for a regular client with thick hair. The blend was way smoother and the line looked so much more natural, I couldn't believe I'd been doing it the hard way. Does anyone else still prefer clippers for certain neck types or am I just late to the game?

Oh man, that reminds me of this one time I was trying to fix a leaky faucet in my garage. I spent an hour with a pipe wrench and a bunch of tape trying to stop a drip. Then my buddy walks in, grabs a zip tie, tightens it in like two seconds, and walks out without saying a word. Felt like a total idiot standing there with my wrench hanging out. Sometimes you just need someone to show you the simple trick that's been sitting right in front of you the whole time. Shears for necklines sounds like one of those things that makes you wonder why you ever bothered with the extra hassle.

Last Thursday I was cleaning up my own neckline with my old clippers and honestly the line looked harsh until I messed with it for ten minutes. I think this is one of those things where you get so used to doing something a certain way that you forget to check if there's a better option. Kind of like how I used to always stir my coffee with a spoon until I tried just swirling the mug and realized it works fine. Shears take more control but they give you that soft finish that clippers just can't do on thick hair. Once you make the switch it's hard to go back.
