My cordless clipper battery gave out mid-fade in Wichita today

I was halfway through a skin fade on a regular when the power just died, no warning, no slow buzz. The guy had to sit there for 20 minutes while I scrambled for a corded backup I barely use anymore. Turns out the battery was 4 years old and I never checked it, I just assumed it would keep going. Now I'm wondering how often you all replace your clipper batteries before they crap out on a chair, or do you just keep a corded unit handy as insurance?

had a buddy who ran a shop a few years back, same thing happened except he was doing a full beard trim and the guy fell asleep in the chair with the half buzzed side. he kept a spare battery in his truck after that, but honestly he just got in the habit of plugging in the corded one first thing every morning...
