My clippers died halfway through a skin fade on a Saturday, and here is the mess I got into
Sat down my 4 o'clock appointment, a regular named Marcus, and got the left side down to a clean skin line. Went to switch on my main clipper for the right side and got nothing but a sad little click. Motor was toast. I stood there with a half bald head in front of me and a shop full of people waiting, and my backup pair was sitting at home on my kitchen counter because I had taken it apart to clean it on Thursday and never put it back together. So I did the worst thing you can do. I grabbed the old corded pair from the bottom drawer, the one with the dull blade I keep saying I will replace, and tried to blend with it. It grabbed his hair twice and left a line you could see from the parking lot. I ended up spending 25 minutes fixing what should have taken 5, and I still handed Marcus a discount because I felt bad. I ordered two new blades that night and now the backup lives in the drawer, charged, no excuses. What do you all keep as your emergency rig, and how often do you actually swap the blades on it?

Something nobody talks about is how a dead clipper mid cut can mess with your head for weeks after, you start second guessing every pass. Marcus came back though, right?
