My big switch on consultation time: waste or must-have?
I used to think spending time on consultations was a drag, so I'd keep them super short. Like, I'd just ask what number they wanted and go for it, lol. But after a few haircuts where the person left unhappy, I started doing longer chats before the cut. Now, I see it helps avoid mix-ups and makes the whole experience better. Some barbers argue that it eats into appointment slots and isn't always needed. Others, like me now, say it's key for good results and happy customers. Where do you stand on this? Do you keep consultations quick or take your time?

Heard the old "measure twice, cut once" saying? Yeah, that.

Ugh, my friend's coffee table is lopsided because he RUSHED the measuring.

What's the rush, to get to the unhappy customer part faster? Seems like some folks would rather measure once, cut once, and then argue about it for twenty minutes. Watching a barber skip the chat is like watching someone try to build IKEA furniture without the pictures. Sure, you might save three minutes up front, but then you're spending half an hour fixing a lopsided mess.
