Just figured out a trick for blending fades on coarse hair

I was struggling for months with this one guy who comes in every 3 weeks. His hair is super thick and coarse, and no matter what I did the fade would show these weird lines. I tried going slower with the clippers, using different guards, nothing worked. Then last week I grabbed my trimmer with the corner of the blade and did little feathering motions right where the line was forming. Total game changer. It softened the transition so smooth I even had another barber in the shop ask what I did. I think the key was not pressing down hard, just letting the blade skim the surface. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of hair texture and found a different method that works?

...and here I thought the secret to a clean fade was just praying to the barber gods and buying expensive clippers. But no, it turns out the real hack is pretending your trimmer is a butterfly and barely touching the hair. Who knew?

read something from a barber once who said the trick is to use the trimmers like you're painting a picture, not mowing a lawn. @mila_jones39 the butterfly thing makes sense though, lighter touch equals cleaner lines every time.
